Moovo Turns a Subscription into a Story

Moovo Turns a Subscription into a Story
Promoting a sports subscription can be simple: show the price, list the benefits, and add a subscription button. But at Moovo, we wanted to present Nojoom Al Rabiaa’s offering with beIN CONNECT in a way that felt closer to Iraqi audiences and was easier to remember.
Instead of explaining the service through a traditional advertisement, we built the campaign around a familiar problem for many football fans: **the constant search for a free way to watch the match.
That is where Abu Najm entered the story.
Abu Najm — An Iraqi Character Built for Storytelling
Abu Najm is a cartoon puppet character developed to represent a humorous and familiar Iraqi personality: a man who does not like spending money, constantly looks for free alternatives, and will go to great lengths to save — even when his attempts make things more complicated.
That personality became the starting point of the campaign.
Abu Najm wants to watch football, but he does not want to pay for a subscription. So he begins searching for free streaming links and experiences the frustrations and complications that come with trying to watch the match that way.
Instead of directly telling the audience, “Subscribe and watch the matches,” we allowed them to experience the problem through a comedic character they could understand, relate to, and remember.
Turning the Problem into Content
The campaign’s visual concepts and videos followed Abu Najm’s journey as a football viewer.
He searches for links, tries different ways to watch the match for free, and struggles with the familiar frustrations many football fans experience — until he eventually reaches the solution: **subscribing through Nojoom Al Rabiaa and accessing beIN CONNECT.
In this way, the subscription was no longer simply a product shown at the end of an advertisement. It became the solution to the problem around which the entire story was built.
Comedy captured attention, Abu Najm gave the campaign a distinctly Iraqi personality, and the commercial message remained simple and clear.
From One Character to a Complete Visual Campaign
Moovo developed the campaign’s creative concepts, visual direction, AI-assisted imagery, social media designs, short-form videos, and motion content.
Abu Najm was placed in different situations inspired by football, match days, television, and the everyday viewing habits of Iraqi fans, while maintaining the character’s recognizable appearance, personality, and visual identity throughout the campaign.
The visual world was inspired by Iraqi daily life and local football culture, helping the situations feel familiar rather than disconnected from the audience.
Why Abu Najm?
The challenge was not simply to explain the subscription’s features. It was to make people care about the message and remember it.
Abu Najm allowed us to turn pricing, subscriptions, and digital viewing into a story.
Instead of presenting audiences with a long list of benefits, we created a character with one clear motivation:
He wants to watch the match while spending as little as possible.
Every attempt to find a free alternative pushes the story forward until he discovers a simpler and more reliable solution through Nojoom Al Rabiaa.
Abu Najm therefore became the bridge between entertaining content and the campaign’s commercial objective.
Technology Helped Us Expand Abu Najm’s World
Moovo combined advanced artificial intelligence technologies with design and visual production to develop different environments and scenarios around the character while maintaining his identity.
This approach allowed the creative team to produce a wide variety of images, videos, and situations within shorter production cycles and transform one central idea into a broader series of content distributed across Nojoom Al Rabiaa’s digital and social media platforms.
But AI was never the hero of the campaign.
Abu Najm and the idea were the heroes. Technology was the tool that helped us build their world.
When a Sales Message Becomes a Story
The campaign presented the subscription differently from traditional sports advertising, connecting the service with a character and situations that Iraqi audiences could recognize and remember.
The content was distributed across Nojoom Al Rabiaa’s digital platforms and social media channels as part of a campaign designed to increase awareness of the service and encourage subscriptions.
The wider commercial activity associated with the campaign recorded more than 2,250 devices sold per month.
But the creative value of the project went beyond the number.
We took a straightforward message — “Subscribe to watch the matches” — and transformed it into the journey of a character with a motivation, a problem, a struggle, and ultimately, a solution.
Abu Najm started his journey looking for a free link to watch the match.
After all his attempts, he discovered that the solution was much simpler:
Nojoom Al Rabiaa and beIN CONNECT.
That is how Moovo approaches advertising:
We do not simply look for a way to show the product. We look for a story that makes people remember it.
